I've got four digital synths, and while they all have great sound, nothing can match the sounds a modular synth can produce.I'm definitely saving up for one of these.

Thanks!I thought that e.g 4-voice=4 oscillators with 4 connectors for each key, connectors routed to "own" osc. with own voltage control would be enough, the osc. "refusing" to accept next key until previous released by itself but obviously not then :)

multiple oscillators working independently are a considerable challenge to implement. To double the polyphony requires more than double the amount of circuitry because, not only are the number of oscillators doubled, but the electronics also need to function as a switch,connecting keys to free oscillators instantaneously. The switching function also implements an algorithm which decides which notes to turn off if the maximum number of notes are already sounding when an additional key is pressed

So, I'm going to ask a stupid question. If more oscillators=more sounds then why didn't they come up with polyphonic modulars early on?

I have a Studio 44 cabinet with an analogue sequencer module. I love direct patching. I find internal patching to be MORE confusing. I can always check the cables you know ;) They stuffed five oscillators in my cabinet. I still don't get the clipper/rectifier's function really.

Holy crap this just has me in awe!! those are the most awesome sounds I've ever heard! even my cat is going crazy!! I could play with something like that all day!
