Comedian Stephen Colbert of Comedy Central's TV series "The Colbert Report" created the word "Truthiness" and, whether we like it or not THAT is how it happens. Someone starts using a previosly unknown word, it becomes popular and part of the American Language. Think about BLOG, Xerox, Scuba, all previously non existant words which were created and are now internationally used.

I am sure it has been commented on a million times (like the comment below), but there is no such word as "Truthiness". Even typing the word in the comment box right here, it comes up with a red underline (which indicates a misspelled word)... Another fine example of our public school system's failure to provide adequate education.

no, it's not a real word. i don't care what ill-educated fuckwit 'coined' it, he's just made up a word to take the place of one he doesn't know. the US media does this all the time, just proving how stupid they are. 'truthiness' is no more a real word than 'winingest'. 'truthfulness' and 'most successful', it's not that difficult.
