I agree with with arkjazz...this simply is one of the best Bix recordings. So much fire and passion in his attack. I never tire of listening to him. A perfect example of his unique bag of tricks ...1:54 to 2:06

I suppose that listening to 'Sorry' was as close to the truth as when Eddie Condon stated that listening to Bix was like hearing a girl say yes. My Uncle, who played with Paul Whiteman, introduced me to Bix when I was 15 and it was the beginning of a life long romance with his music. Hopefully, some place, Bix and Louis are playing together.

screw the rest,bix was the best! in 2003 he was supposed to get a us stamp.he didn't get one! all the other jazz players got one! he got screwed! politics and racism as usual.

One of the classic Bix performances. He simply 'carries' the piece with his beautiful tone and subtle, abundant invention and innovation. It's hard to believe he was self-taught on cornet (but he was) and all of 24 when this was recorded. And it still sounds fresh and alive and forward thinking when so much of that era--including much of the contexts within which he played--sounds so dated. Bix was a rare, sad genius and there's not much of him out there, but I'm grateful for what we've got.

This is one of Bix best. The recording in great shape. I had it on a 78 rpm, haven't heard it for awhile. Bix playing on this is such a good exaample of his greatness.
