Joan had more talent in her little finger than all the X-factor crews put together.

Quite a wrong myth!Baez recorded this for her landmark JOAN BAEZ 5 lp (liner notes by Langston Hughes) in 1964 at the heighth of their very passionate affair. She was actually repeatedly refusing his offer of marriage when this was written. You can watch their duet from Newport 64 of this song (on youtube) when they were still obviously in love. Much more likely written for Suze. All Joan wanted was for him to show up at a protest march every once in a while--she didn't need the flowers etc

Why compare beyonce to joan baez? lol

Absolutely, these days it's all about product placement in the videos and even in the lyrics! I imagine it would have taken a lot of guts to write and perform a song like this in that era.

I love that she was anti-marriage! Have you heard Beyonce's new song Single Ladies Put A Ring On It. Very conservative view from Beyonce but didn't expect much more and quite patronizing considering she actually just got married. I thinks it's nice if you wanna do it but it should not be part of the happily ever after brainwashing that everyone is accustomed to. Love can be so musch stronger when you're not married because what is holding you together?? Nothing but trust and commitment! Love! xx |
